Rachael’s first graphic novel, The Inflatable Woman (published by Bloomsbury 2015), was one of the Guardian’s Best Graphic Novels 2015 and one of Paul Gravett’s Top 10 GNs for 2015. The Sunday Telegraph, described the novel as ‘inspiring and wonderfully unconventional.’ The Times Literary Supplement described her 2nd graphic novel Wolf (published by ‘SelfMadeHero’ and Arts Council Funded), as ‘wildly inventive and poignant.’

She is currently working on a middle-grade graphic novel called MADDY AND THE DISAPPEARING LIGHTHOUSE and her third adult graphic novel THE PATSY PAPERS  based on her experiences teaching art in secondary school for 16 years. THE PATSY PAPERS is also Arts Council funded.

She teaches workshops on creating graphic novels at the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, a ‘Writing for Comics’ course at the City Lit as well as a ‘Design a Children’s Picture Book’ course at the Art Academy.  She has taught at Arvon online; on the Pathways course at Anglia Ruskin and in 2024 was awarded a place at the Hosking Houses writing residency in Stratford -Upon- Avon. She lives in London but comes originally from Blackpool.
