A shocking and violent turn of events tragically pulls Theo, an 18-year-old autistic student from her life in LA and plunges her into a realm that she struggles to make any sense of. She finds herself in both the Vale and imminent danger, until Sitara Blackfist, a private detective and Living Daemon comes to her aid. Along with Sitara’s snarky, fox-shifting associate Felix, Theo is drawn into Sitara’s newest case - the murder of a Dryad child. The three make an unlikely alliance as they begin to track down the mysterious secret society known as The Shadowed Hand, whilst Theo begins to recognise she has powers of her own and must come to terms with the idea that she might now be entirely human….
