There Are Birds Here is a historical novel set in a 1950s rural Norfolk community, Serbia and Düsseldorf. It explores the relationships of three married couples whose lives intersect as they try and rebuild their lives after the Second World War. A German couple settled in UK, Helmut and Krystal, who may have found their long-lost daughter; an English upper middle-class couple, Alison and David who are longing for a baby, and a German couple living in Düsseldorf , Frieda and Hans, who appear to have a perfect marriage. There are Birds Here is a well-observed story of love, loss and redemption.
Inge Watson was born in Dumfries, Scotland to German parents and moved to Norfolk when she was still a baby. She went to university in Northern Ireland and studied Modern History. She worked in the education system for 23 years, 8 of them as a Head Teacher. She now lives in Kent and writes full time.
