Christian Carnouche and Meriam Carnouche
Meriam and Christian are a French-Tunisian-Australian couple based in NYC, after having worked for many years in The Netherlands and France, Meriam as a translator, and Christian as a criminologist.
They co-wrote TUNIS TO SYDNEY, drawn by Sam Rapley, and published by Fairsquare Graphics in August 2024, which is an original graphic novel based on their experiences as a mutli-racial couple searching for home and belonging. They also previously collaborated on the short. comic, HOUSE OF CRACKS, which appeared in the MURKY WATERS anthology.
Christian also wrote THE RESURRECTED, a dystopian sci-fi comic book mini-series, MURKY WATERS, an anthology of psychological horror comic book shorts, and has authored a number of short comics for anthologies. He has also completed a manuscript for his first literary novel, 1999, a philosophical coming of age story set in Sydney at the turn of the millennium, and is working on his second novel, inspired by the recent birth of his and Meriam's daughter.
Christian and Meriam are currently working on a new project, in collaboration with artist Pat MasionI, and set in the Tunisian Sahara. This new graphic novel is a psychological horror tale exploring the French-Tunisian protagonist's dual-cultural identity, after having long hidden his Arab-ness in order to fit into France.
